Lyme, N.H. - Patricia H. Carpenter, age 76, of Lyme died on Tuesday November 20, 2012, after a life filled with family, friends, adventures & love. Born in Stanford, Ct. in 1936 and a former resident of Darien, CT. for 21 years, she lived with her surviving husband Seth B. Carpenter in Lyme, N.H. for the past 24 years. She was a basketball star in and graduated from Hudson High School in 1954. After finishing two years at Bowling Green & Kent State in OH., she married Mr. Carpenter in 1959 on Interlaken Road at the home of her parents in Stamford CT. & subsequently become a wonderful home-maker with their 3 children. She grew & donated plants for Royal School Roundup for 9+ years, was a gourmet cook, played bridge, paddle tennis & entertained in Darien. She hiked all the 4,000 footers in NH, VT, & ME more than once. She was a wonderful enthusiastic mother, seamstress, photographer and upholsterer, and a lifetime reader and continued to adventure into the NH White Mountains after relocating to Lyme in 1988 where she worked for Berway Farm, had an annual Pig Roast gathering friends & family from near & far each summer, tended to her & Seth's gentry farm of flowers, sheep, pigs, & to her children & grandchildren. Daughter of the late William H. & Virginia M. Holding and sister of the late Billy Holding. She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her husband, Seth B. Carpenter, a sister Margaret Holding of Torrington Ct., a brother George Holding, a daughter & son-in-law, Carey & Harry Compton of Pennington, NJ, a son & daughter-in-law, Seth & Emily Carpenter of Jacksonville, FL., a son & daughter-in-law, Kevan & Kristin Carpenter of Durham, NH, and six grandchildren. Funeral services & burial will be private. Calling hours any descent time.
