West Fairlee, VTRichard W. Johnson, a longtime resident of Beanville Road died unexpectedly, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his home. He was 89.Born on March 28, 1928 in Waterford, VT, he was the son of George and Fannie (Fitchett) Johnson.On September 5, 1952, he married Agnes L. Melendy. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary until her passing on April 27, 2013.Richard was self- employed as a carpenter.Besides woodworking, he enjoyed puzzles, fishing, berrying, and back road riding.Besides his wife and parents, he is pre-deceased by a brother Robert Johnson.He leaves a son Richard Johnson and wife Cynthia of South Strafford, VT; three daughters Cynthia Bacon and husband James of Bradford, VT, Sheila Geoffrey and husband Dawson of North Thetford, VT, and Sherre Tullar and husband George of Orford, VT; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two brothers Lawrence Johnson of Lancaster, NH and Leonard Johnson of Massachusetts; and a sister Beatrice Foley of South Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.Services will be private.
