NORTH HAVERHILL, NH - Ronald Larry Gilman, 71, born August 4th, 1954, in North Haverhill, New Hampshire; passed away surrounded by loved ones in the early hours of Sunday September 28th. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Ron’s legacy lives on not only in the love he gave but also in the things he built. As a masterful carpenter, he cleared the land for our family home, built a gazebo, and created countless other works that continue to stand as a testament to his skill, vision, and dedication.
Ron carried a deep love for hunting that had been passed down generationally, which he passed on with patience and compassion to his son, and later his grandson. For him, it wasn’t just about the hunt, it was about the lessons in respect of nature, the care he took in teaching, and the bond that grew stronger with every trip. Those shared moments in the woods became cherished traditions, weaving together three generations and creating a legacy of connection that will continue to live on.
Ron found peace and joy in nature. He cherished fishing trips with his children when they were young, where patience and laughter filled the air as much as the cast lines. He loved the energy of the water, often kayaking to find both adventure and comfort. At home, some of his happiest moments were by the fire on his land, gathered with his wife and family, where stories and love were shared under the stars.
Ron and Maryann shared a love that spanned more than 45 years. He adored his wife with all his heart—his “143.” Some of his most treasured moments were the quiet, starry nights spent beside Maryann, sitting by the fire with country music playing softly in the background, where their love spoke louder than words.
Ron will be remembered for his steadfast love of family and his playful sense of humor, which he delighted in sharing with his grandsons. He had a talent for making every moment an opportunity for laughter, whether it was through a perfectly timed joke, a good-natured prank, or simply a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
He was predeceased by his mother, Jessie Gilman; his father, Roger Gilman; and his brother, Roger Gilman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Maryann Gilman; his son, Scott Gilman, and daughter-in-law, Ashley Bean; and his daughter, Amanda Gilman. He also leaves behind three cherished grandsons, Kaydin Gilman, Bryson Gilman, and Cyprus Stienstra. Ron will also be lovingly remembered by his brother, Ray Gilman, as well as Ray's children, Jenny and Chris.
There will be a small gathering of family and close friends for a graveside service at 11:00am on Tuesday October 7th, 2025, with a celebration of life in the spring of 2026 that will be open to the public.
In lieu of flowers please send a donation to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Hale Funeral Home, 187 Upper Plain in Bradford.
