Ronald A. Swift

September 3, 1949 — August 11, 2025

In Loving Memory of Ronald A. Swift
Ronald A. Swift passed away on August 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. At the time of his passing, he was comforted by his daughter, Shannon Gioia; three of his grandchildren, Rebecca Lakin, Aharon Findley, and Joshua Findley; his brother, Merlin Swift Jr.; and his sister, Sylvia Lappier. Ron deeply mourned the loss of his beloved wife, Carline E. Swift, who passed on September 27, 2023.
Ron was an avid hunter, especially cherishing the fall season spent at hunting camp with friends and family. He loved sharing stories about trophy deer, the "puking oak," the abundance of food consumed, and the two weeks he took off work each year for these gatherings. From childhood, Ron enjoyed fishing the Ompompanoosac River and took pride in tying his own flies for fishing.
His greatest passion was his Harley Davidson Softail, which he rode with his wife to Nova Scotia one summer, and he delighted in taking his grandchildren for rides.
Ron dedicated over 40 years of service to Dan & Whit's in Norwich, Vermont. He earned a memorable reputation among customers and staff alike for his quick wit, sarcasm, jokes, and playful banter. Ron's zest for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Shannon Gioia; his grandchildren, Hannah Swift, Rebecca Lakin, Aharon Findley, and Joshua Findley; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Denis and Merlin; his sister, Sylvia Lappier; and many cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be held on September 14th at 11:00 AM in Union Village.
Following the service, a celebration of Ron's life will take place at the Community Center in Thetford Center, Vermont.
