Wayne Kenyon, 89, Passed away peacefully November 7th 2022. Wayne was born in Woodsville, New Hampshire to Charles and Fanny Kenyon on October 12th 1933.
Wayne was a Native to Bradford Vermont. He attended schools in Bradford, Vermont and graduated high school from Bradford Academy. Special interest in high school consisted of the Glee Club and Dramatics. He graduated college in 1955 from Lyndon, VT receiving the top student award. During that time his dorm neighbors nick named him "Weinstein" as he was always a very alert individual.
During the summers of high school and college he picked strawberries and worked at a local milk company called Whiting’s in his home town of Bradford, Vermont. He also worked for the Vermont Church Council as a camp counselor on a summer pastorate. He gave several well portrayed dramatic presentations as a member of the LTC Dramatic Club. In 1954 he journeyed to New York as a Lyndon delegate to a conference on education. He handled the secretary treasurer seat for the MAA in 1955. He worked and provided articles for the Lyndon School newspaper.
Wayne was the type of person that liked to study people and gained much satisfaction from recognizing basic reasons for particular human reactions. His other interests centered around reading, music, and intellectual reasoning. He was very clever at checker playing an enjoyed an occasional game of pool.
He served four years in the United States Air Force as a Russian translator. In addition to English Wayne spoke: Russian, German, Spanish, and French. He was stationed at Frank Fort Military Base in Germany from June, 18th 1956 to July, 15th 1960.
Wayne was an educator and taught high school classes in New York. He was a politician and served several terms as a Democratic member of the house of representatives from Orange County between 1987 and 2004. He was noted for his gift of conversation and endless knowledge of history.
Wayne was predeceased by his mother Fanny Kenyon and his father Charles Kenyon. He is survived by his brother David C Kenyon, his sister-in-law Rita Kenyon both of Bradford VT. A niece Debbie McGoff, nephews David Kenyon, Mike Kenyon, and Mark Kenyon. Several great and great great nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held November 23 at Sawyer Cemetery in Bradford Vt at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers donations in Wayne’s name can be made to Bradford parks and recreation 172 Main St. Bradford VT 05033
