He was born in Boston, MA January 9, 1931, son of Dr. Harold W. and Phoebe L. Baker. He attended Orford Schools Trinidad College School of Gunsmithing in Colorado, served in the United States Army for two years and later graduated from Boston University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He and his partners owned and operated Tri Town Toyota from 1962 until 1989. Besides his family, his great love was his farm and his cattle. In 1971 he started raising Scottish Highland cattle for breeding stock and has sold grass fed beef to individuals and health food stores for many years. He was most interested in politics and the Orford schools. He served on the school board for nine years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy, his son David and wife Wendy, his son Tom and wife Eileen, his son Bill and wife Sarita, ten grandchildren and his surrogate daughter, Karin Bonnett and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Orford Congregational Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2 followed by a celebration of his life in the church vestry.
