William M. Sanborn Sr

William M. Sanborn, Sr., passed away in his home in East Thetford on Friday, August 22, 2014 after a period of failing health. He was 84. He was born on May 28, 1930 to George and Olive Sanborn in Brooksville, ME. On July 8, 1952, he married Fay Stewart. They lived most of their married life in Thetford, VT. She passed away in 2013. He joined the Marines and served in the Korean War and in Puerto Rico. Bill worked at Tip Top Bakery in White River Junction and then in the plumbing Shop at Dartmouth College. Bill loved trips to Maine, enjoying the ocean and lobster/clam bakes on the beach. He also enjoyed camping at the Fryeburg Fair for several years. He is survived by his son William Sanborn, Jr., and his wife Corrine of Hartland, VT; grandson Troy Sanborn of Ryegate, VT; granddaughter Ashley Bird and husband Chris of Perkinsville, VT. He is also survived by his brothers Bob and Phil Sanborn of Searsport, ME; two great-grandsons, Reese and Addison Sanborn and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm at the family plot at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in North Thetford, VT on Thursday, August 28. Rev Gail Dimick will officiate.
