Daniel Robert Rick age 28 of Hartford, died in Thetford Vermont in the early morning hours of January 4th, 2021. Daniel, an Air Force Veteran was a victim of PTSD.
Born in Worcester Massachusetts on April 3, 1992 he attended schools in West Brookfield and Barre MA graduating in 2010. Immediately after graduating he joined the U. S. Air Force and was stationed at Minot AFB as a Armaments Specialist. He was deployed several times to overseas assignments. He served until 2015 at which time, he continued his education utilizing the GI Bill, at the Greenfield Community College and U. of Mass. Amherst, where he studied Sustainable Agriculture.
Moving to Vermont, he worked for Security at the VA Hospital and then for the USDA Soil Conservation Office in Orford NH where he was employed at the time of his death.
Daniel is survived by his mother Amy Atchue, his father Robert Rick and his brother Tim and sister Heather.
The family reminds everyone that PTSD is a serious yet treatable disorder and asks that if you know someone with PTSD or have PTSD that you reach out for help as there are those who care about you.
An Honorable Transfer of Daniel’s remains was made under the covering of the U.S. Flag from Burlington, Vermont to Hartford, Vermont. There will be no services due to COVID-19. The family will hold private services at a later time.
